HTS Code Lookup

Find possible U.S. tariff lines by product description or code, compare listed duty fields, and continue to the official sources before you file.

How a U.S. tariff line is built

Start broad. Verify the ten-digit line.

A result moves from a global chapter to a U.S. statistical suffix. Search by everyday product words or paste any valid 2, 4, 6, 8, or 10 digit prefix.

Example: 8517.13.00.00 is the ten-digit filing line whose official description is “Smartphones” in the active Revision 11 snapshot. Its General rate is listed as Free there.

A defensible lookup path

Fast enough for exploration. Careful enough for customs work.

The interface shortens the search loop without pretending a keyword match can replace the General Rules of Interpretation, legal notes, product facts, or a binding ruling.

01 / FIND

Search official wording

Use a product description or code. Exact codes rank first; text results explain whether all or only some terms matched.

02 / COMPARE

Inspect the hierarchy

Compare up to three candidates, review units and listed duty columns, and see when a ten-digit line inherits a rate from its parent.

03 / VERIFY

Finish at the source

Open the current official HTS and CBP CROSS from the result. Confirm legal notes, rulings, origin, date, and Chapter 99 measures.

HTS Code Lookup is a research interface for public U.S. tariff schedule data. It helps you find and compare candidate provisions; it does not classify merchandise for you and is not a customs ruling, legal opinion, tax advice, or brokerage service.

Classification depends on complete product facts, the General Rules of Interpretation, section and chapter notes, current customs rulings, origin, use, material, and other legal requirements. Verify every candidate against the current official HTS and, when appropriate, CBP or a qualified customs professional before filing or quoting duties.

Displayed duty fields reproduce base schedule data supplied by the USITC. Additional duties, trade remedies, quotas, exclusions, fees, and product-specific requirements may apply and may not be represented by this lookup.

Revision comparisons and related CBP ruling results are research leads. A machine-readable field comparison does not prove that legal notes were unchanged, and a ruling search hit does not prove that the ruling applies to your merchandise. Read the complete current official sources and ruling status.
